||AZGS & WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY FIELD TRIP
On 8 March 2009, Charles Ferguson (AZGS) led a cohort of about a dozen geoscientists—and geoscientists-in-the-making—on a half-day trop to Cienega Gap off the east slope of Mt. Fagan. The largest contingency was a group of eight undergraduates, joined by two professors, from Washington University, St. Louis.
In the morning, we snaked through east—west trending drainages to find magnificent, and telling, exposures of the Mt. Fagan ash-flow tuff, the Cretaceous Ft. Crittenden conglomerate, and the Jurassic Turney Ranch Formation. In the afternoon, the group examined the Bisbee Group Glance Conglomerate intercalated with the Apache Canyon Formation linestone.
